SPEED Youth Arts Festival
The Arts Festival is an opportunity for youth of all ages to bring awareness to a pressing social issue through creating pieces of art. The program focuses on developing and enhancing young people’s creativity while also building their knowledge around an important social issue such as poverty or climate change. As with all our other programs, the Arts Festival also provides a safe and structured environment for our youth so that they can have fun and learn at the same time.
The first Arts Festival was held in 2010 and has now become an annual event. Each year the Festival serves as a platform for addressing some of the most important issues of today. Examples include the preservation of our planet and building sustainable practices, poverty, gender equality, water, and education. During the Festival young people exhibit their works made in different formats. All works of art are encouraged and poetry, music, film, photography, animation, graphic design, website development, painting, craft and drawing are some of the disciplines that are normally represented at the Festival.
SPEED Youth’s Arts Festival is high profile and well-organized program. We believe in inviting youth and teachers from a wide range of schools to participate, so that we can have youth from all backgrounds under one roof to share and exchange. We expect dozens of youth to participate, and hundreds of visitors to attend the exhibit and performances. We anticipate that this event will become the premier event for exhibiting art and media projects of youth in Dhaka in the coming years.
